Dinara Saparova and Josipa Basic attended the 74th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Information Science and Technology held October 9, 2011 in New Orleans, LA. They presented a poster “Exploring the Usefulness of Awareness Widgets in Online Shared Workspaces: A Preliminary Case Study” co-authored with fellow IE Lab Member, Francis Kibaru, resulted from the doctoral seminar “Human-Computer Interaction”.
During the conference, GAs participated in the annual ASIST student design competition where they teamed up with two other graduate students (Vivienne Houghton, DU, Co and Vanessa Kitzie, Rutgers University, NJ) to work during 24 hours on the design idea for ways to “Pop the filter bubble”.
SISLT faculty members Dr. Sanda Erdelez, Dr. John Budd, and Dr. Heather Moulaison along with the IELab User Experience Specialist Dr. Borchuluun Yadamsuren also attended and presented at the conference. Dr. Erdelez was the chair of Track 1 – Information Behavior.
During the Alumni event, IELab members endorsed the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies and a coming opening of the ASIST Student Chapter at MU.
