Starting in August 2007, IE lab members began to work closely with the MU Extension web development team on the re-design project for its website. MU Extension is a department that delivers research-based, practical information from the University of Missouri to citizens of Missouri. The MU Extension website has grown exponentially and chaotically since it was launched a decade ago. Since the summer of 2007, IE lab had adopted several evaluation methods such as Expert Review and Focus Group to provide expert recommendations and users’ information to the web development team. Based on information provided by IE lab, MU Extension website had successfully developed its prototype and a preliminary website.
Currently, the iterative evaluation for this new website of MU Extension has come to the third stage—user participant studies. IE lab coordinators, Xin Wang, Ngoc Vo, and Borchuluun Yadamsuren have interviewed two types (internal and external users) and a dozen of user participants in the past a few weeks. A series of significant findings have been found from users’ information seeking behaviors and a comprehensive evaluation report has been sent to the administrative board of the MU Extension.
